How to Acknowledge the BDSC and Cite Stocks

How to Acknowledge the BDSC

Demonstrable productive use of the BDSC collection plays an important role in our ability to retain grant support. NIH requests that our award number be referenced in relevant publications. When you publish research that used stocks obtained from the BDSC please include the following statement in the Acknowledgements section of your publication: "Stocks obtained from the Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center (NIH P40OD018537) were used in this study."

How to Cite BDSC Stocks

The BDSC is a strong supporter of rigor and reproducibility. Therefore, we encourage all our users to cite BDSC stocks using RRIDs in publications (learn more about RRIDs on our FAQ page). Using RRIDs in your publications demonstrates productive use of BDSC stocks which plays an important role in securing grant funding. We encourage RRID use!

RRIDs for every stock can be found at the bottom on the stock report page (see example below).
